Month TWO

Watching this little guy grow has been so much fun! He has changed so much and is getting so big! I love being a Mommy

WEIGHT/HEIGHT
Keiser had is first set of shots at his 2 month apt. He did really good, but Mommy and Daddy were sad. He only cried for a little bit and slept the rest of the day. I kept checking on him to make sure he didn't have a fever. I was nervous about givng tylenol but we did at night because he felt a little warm and we wanted him to sleep comfortably.
He weighed 10. 7 lbs and was 22 inches long.

SLEEPING
Keiser is still waking up every 2 -2.5 hrs to nurse. He has had one or two, four hour stretches of sleep at night this month. I am hoping that he starts sleeping longer at night, even though I enjoy nursing him.

EATING
He started eating every 2 hrs this month. I am ok with that since breastmilk digest within 2 hrs. I have such an oversupply of milk, I had to start pumping a little before I nurse him to slow down my let down. It has seemed to help a little bit with his gas pains and he is not choking as much.  He is still grunting a lot though. Daddy calls it the happy grunting baby ;)We also started giving Keiser a bottle a night so Daddy can feed him and I could build a milk stash :)

DIAPERS/CLOTHES
He was 2.5 months when he started wearing size 1 diapers. They were still a little big but the newborns were getting too snug. We are still in newborn clothes but starting to wear some 3 month sizes because he is so long.

MILESTONES
He started to coo and now is talking like crazy. I love his sweet little voice.
He is doing a great job holding his head up and looking everywhere. He is so intrested in what is going on.
He starting to hold his head up

He also coos after he sneezes
He has shown his little temper by stop breathing when he gets mad, that little stinker
LOVES
I love watching his face when I sing to him
He loves to take walks and be in his stroller

ACTIVITIES
He meet his little cousin Avery.
We went swimming
Our first trip to a resturant

Month ONE

Keiser had a very eventful first month. He got to hang out  in the hospital again after 5 days of being home. The day before my birthday I woke up with chest pain and was having a hard time breathing. I thought it could be allergies so I didn't think much about it. Later that evening, I was not feeling any better and Kelcey decided we should go to the emergency room. Thankfully my mother was here to watch Keiser for us. Since Keiser was breastfed he couldn't be too far from me, so Keiser and my mother waited in the car for us, hoping this would be a fast trip.

When we got there they checked my heart and everything was ok. They were afraid that I had a blood clot in my lungs from delivery. I needed a ct scan with iodine to rule the possibility out. Since I had an allergic reaction once to iodine, they needed me to do a radioactive test. I was devastated because with the radioactive dye, I would be unable to breastfed Keiser for 30 hours. He was only 5 days old and I was nervous about him having nipple confusion. I absolutely loved breastfeeding Keiser, he latched on perfectly after birth and I didn't want to do anything to mess that bond up. After talking to Kelcey and the nurse, I decided it was the best thing for me. If I did have a clot, it could of been a lot worse. I pumped all that I could and sent that to my mom. My cousin came to pick up my Mom and Keiser and he started formula for the next 30 hrs:(

During the test the radiologist told me I should be glad I did the scan, she saw something on my lungs. For the last 10 mins of the test, I was thinking I was about to die. I was really scared and didn't know what to think. They wheeled me back to my room and I told Kelcey what the radiologist saw. We sat there and prayed for a miracle. After a couple of hours of waiting, the Dr. came in and told me my scan was clear. We believe that God worked a miracle for us that night!

                                                                 WEIGHT/HEIGHT

Keiser is a growing boy. He was 7lbs 12 oz and 20.25 inches long at his 1 month check up.

                                   SLEEPING
Ever since Keiser came home, he would only sleep at an incline. His pack n play that we were hoping to use was to big for him, so we bought a bassinet with an incline. The first week we had to wake him up every 3 hrs to nurse. Now he wakes up every 1.5 -2 hrs to nurse. He loves the sound of running water and will fall asleep to it :)
   EATING
He is nursing about every 1.5 hrs.  Since he was such an efficient eater he would nurse for about 6-7 mins on one side and be done. He was gaining the right amount of weight so we didn't worry about trying to get him to eat on both sides.

DIAPER/CLOTHES
Size newborn diapers.
He was wearing preemie clothes for the first couple of weeks and is just now fitting in his newborn clothes. We just love this little guy!

LOVES
Keiser really enjoys taking a bath. He loves the water and is as happy as he can be! We started giving him a bath every other day, but he enjoys it so much we will move it to every night before bed.
He also enjoys being up on our shoulders and walking around the house. He has always been very alert ever since he was 1 day old.

MEMORIES
One day I was changing his diaper and I didn't get the other one fast enough. He started to pee and it went straight into his mouth and he started choking:( Poor little guy, sure scared mommy. This will be a funny story to share to his bride.
Keiser is what they call a happy grunting baby. He is always grunting!!

MILESTONES
He is not a big fan of tummy time, but will lift his head a little for us. He loves to look at books and play on his activity mat.
His Daddy is teaching him to stand, assisted of course:)

I am looking forward to watching him grow and learn. We are so blessed with such a sweet little boy.

Newborn Keiser

Keiser's Birthday

Kayla was scheduled to be induced at 1900pm on 6/8/12 due to fluid backing up on her kidneys presumably from her 6th kidney stone during the pregnancy.
June 8, 2012
1830 –Kayla is wheel chaired over to labor and delivery

1945 – After much clock watching, the doctor is finally available to assess her, Kayla was dilated to a 2 with 40% effacement which is a pretty big shock as Kayla has been having full contractions for 4 weeks with no cervical changes.  Cervadil in at 1945.

2204 - Still dilated to 2 with 40% effacement.  She was still having full irregular contractions ranging from every 5 minutes to every 10 minutes.  Part of the normal protocol, they give Demerol, Phenergan, and Ambien so she can rest.

2330 – None of the medicine is touching the pain or helping her sleep at all.  Every contraction causes bladder spasms and intense pain.  The only comfort Kayla found was with me sitting by the bed.  Contractions are about every 5 minutes.

2355 – The Cervadil is removed after only 4 hours instead of the usual 12.  The nurse said it was working “too well” and causing Kayla’s contractions to be regular every 2 minutes.  At the same time, the nurse receives permission to call in the anesthesiologist for the epidural even though she was still only dilated to a 2.

June 9, 2012

0030 – Kayla is finally able to sleep with the epidural.  Contractions relax again to ranging from every 5 – 10 minutes.

0500 - Dilated to 4, still 40% effaced.  Now that she was dilated to a 4, they begin the Pitocin drip starting with the second lowest setting possible.

0650 – Kayla woke up scared and crying that her water broke.

0700 - Cervical exam finds Kayla is dilated to 6 with 70% effacement.  Bag of waters unbroken, but she is progressing well.

0800 – With contractions ramping up and getting to be regular every 2 minutes again, they turn the Pitocin down to the absolute lowest setting.

0830 – Kayla woke up again this time sure that her water broke.  She was began crying saying, “everything is happening too fast!”  We called the nurse in for another cervical exam.

0847 – Mass text sent out that read, “Water broke, dilated to 9, 9.5.  100% effacement.  Probably start pushing in 45 mins or so.  Pitocin discontinued.  We're rocking along.”

0915 – Keiser’s head rotated

0930 – Keiser’s head descended far enough for Dr. Santiago to tell Kayla that it was ok to start pushing.

0946 – After 4 rounds of 3 hard pushes during the contractions, Keiser Jack Land was born 5 pounds 15.6 ounces at 18.50 inches long!

We got to go home two days later. Little Keiser was so small in his carseat.

One more week until I am 9 months pregnant. I can't believe we are about to meet our  little boy. It's been a while since I've updated this, so I'm going to do my best to summarize the past 9 months.

Oct- To start the month off Kelcey celebrated his 30th birthday. What a year this was going to be :)

October 7, 2012 was our embryo transfer. We had 5 eggs make it to transfer day. We put in two embryos and two embryos made it to freeze.

I was so happy that was the last of the shots :)
These are the two embryos we put in.
This was me laying down for 48 hours praying the embryos made a home
October 21, 2012 Kelcey took his promotional test for Driver. He worked so hard preparing for the test and he PASSED :)
This is what was waiting for Kelcey when he came home after his hard work

October 22, 2012 changed our lives forever. I was too nervous to answer the phone so Kelcey got the call that we were pregnant. My numbers were really high so this was such a huge blessing. We were so excited to finally tell our family member and friends that we were expecting a miracle. We celebrated by going to the State Fair with our dear friends John and Cristina Farrar. I couldn't stop thinking about how happy I was and I remember just looking at Kelcey on our dart ride thinking this baby is so lucky to have him as a Father.
6 week pregnant :)

Nov- This month was really rough. I started having a lot of bladder pain and went to the emergency room because the pain was so bad. I ended up staying for a couple of days to help with pain management. I also found out that I had Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome (OHSS). I had baseball size cysts in both of my ovaries and I had to stay on bed rest for a couple of weeks.

We also got to see our precious baby for the first time this month.

Announcing baby Land

Dec-This month I was still recovering from the cysts and all the bladder issues. Everything was getting better :) We got to enjoy our first Christmas receiving presents for our little baby. We also bought the baby a stroller and a car seat.

Some pictures for our Christmas Cards

12 weeks

Jan- This month was very exciting for us. We get to find out the sex of our precious one.

We had a gender revealing party with our friends and family. Our wonderful neighbor made cupcakes with only one revealing the gender. Everyone ate a cupcake at the same time and we all looked around trying to figure out who had the revealing cupcake. Our niec,e Kenzie was the one who got to tell us....
                                                         IT' S A BOY!!

16 weeks

Feb-  This month we traveled for the first time in a long time. We went to Brady to spend some time in the hill country. We had a great trip but I got a kidney stone the last day we were there. This month was also when we registered for our little boy. We had so much fun finding things for our new baby.
18 weeks

Kelcey worked on baby boy's room building his crib

March- This month I felt great, no kidney stones or UTI's :) It was so nice to have a few weeks pain free. My wonderful friends threw me a shower and it was wonderful. I still can't believe that I had a shower. I remember the pain of getting invited to baby showers and how hard it was to watch someone become a mother, while we were waiting. I feel so blessed to have a shower and all the love and support from our friends and family. Here are some pictures of the shower.

20 weeks

April- Another month of feeling great :) I was very thankful for almost 8 weeks of no pain!  This month we really worked on getting his nursery ready. My sister in law came and painted an awesome mural on his wall. I got his bedding in the mail and everything was coming together. I just love his owl/nature nursery :)

25 weeks
We also went on our baby moon to Fredricksburg, Texas with John and Cristina Farrar. We stayed in the cutest bed and breakfast on the square and walked around the cute shops.

May-  This month was kinda rough. I started feeling kidney stone pain so I called my urologist and she told me to come to the hospital where she was at. So, I went in and ended up in Labor and Delivery with preterm labor. I was dilated to 1 cm and they finally stopped my contractions with lots of fluids and pain medication. The next day they found that after all the fluids I developed pneumonia. So, I was stuck in the hospital for a whole week before I could go home. I was still having regular contractions but since I was not progressing and further they let me go home. Since then I have still have been having regular contractions. I have been checked every two weeks and nothing has changed. We are thanking God everyday for giving us more time to grow our little boy. He is still kicking away so this is not affecting him at all, just making mommy really worn out. Daddy has been working so hard taking care of me, the house, and working. He has been my rock during this time and I'm so thankful for him. The last apt. May 23rd the Dr said that I should have a couple more weeks before he comes, which is great news. I am really hoping he stays in till at least 37 weeks.

This month we also had our fireman shower. Which was rescheduled since I was in the hospital during the first one. Thank you so much Jill, Audrae and Erin for taking time twice in one month to shower us.
